    HI all
just woundering if any one knows away of reducing the amount of dust building up on my PC i am cleaning it alomst monthly at present. I do live in a clean house, how ever I have kids that run about like animals.
I get a thick layer of dust build up on my memory, graphics card and the extral chase fan cover lowering the amount of air flow.

    Any ideas?

Sounds really daft but one option is to cut up a stocking ( preferally not wife or girlfriends new pair ) and tape it to the inside of the case over the inlet slots, air can still come in but dust particles are stopped.

is your PC on the floor.... if so more dust will be dragged in, over the PC being raised.

    Hmm sounds like a plan

Yeah my pc is sat on a desk its a full tower case so although not quite on floor its only about 1" off floor :)

*goes out to get some stockings*

That is a really handy hint Halo :D My Servers have proper dust filters, but my desktop I've not been able to shell out on them for it. I'll have to try that!

I might even have a go improving it, if I get a few minutes :D

    1) Shake off all your dead skin cells in another room before entering your room with the computer. :p
    2) Take your shoes off before you enter the room. :p
    3) Vacuum frequently (once a week), which you should be doing anyway. :D

High positive and high negative airflows cause alot of dust build up throughout the pc, so depending where the dust is settled at, it can be a hint of what type of airflow you have on your pc; idealy you should have minimal dust in your case(as long as conditions warrent it)

    Mosquito netting also works well.

The weave is a bit coarser than women's nylons, so it doesn't restrict airflow quite as much. It's also a bit more robust, and withstands vacuuming better. (Yes, it'll collect dust that will eventually block the mesh. But that's what you wanted, right?) At least you don't have to open the case to remove the dust as often.

As for fastening the netting in place, contact cement is messy but does a reliable job.

If your tower is on the floor move it to desk height. Shutpc down when vacumning take place, especially if room is carpeted. This made a major difference for me. hope this helps
