The dc jack was all mangled and wouldnt charge anymore so I bought a new one and ended up getting just the jack without the harness. I ended up soldering the old harness onto the new jack. Hooked everything back together turned the laptop on. The fan turned on, everything lit up, but there was no post and the led signals were flashing once, then 3 seconds then flashes once.

I checked with HP and that error code is for cpu not functional. Now my understanding would be that the CPU is pooched, or its not getting power. The jack is able to charge the battery and while running off the battery its the same thing so It wouldn't have anything to do with my jack correct me if I am wrong.

But, I have never heard of a cpu not working out of no where, especially since it ran smoothly and coolly before. These codes are apparently pretty specific, and accurate as well. Could the moving the laptop around cause the cpu to become loose in the socket?

Whats your guys oppinions on this?

Is it the same power /volts as the old jack?

lol the jack just carries the voltage, so unless the solder job was bad thats not it, but the dv6 line is known for overheating issues in the past, could be along those lines.

Now I am baffled. I took the laptop apart, took the heatsink off the cpu removed it put it back in, put the laptop back together booted it up. Now instead of the 1 blink then 3 second wait, I get 2 blinks which apparently means Bios Corruption Failure. What does that mean, I need to get it flashed?

Ya somethings F*ked up, its back to the one flash. Guess i'll just sell the parts. The cpu probably did overheat, I noticed HP made a mess with the thermal paste.
