I am wondering if it would be possible to get one, how much would it cost and where. I can't see much about them around. Has anyone any experience with them?

I have a Sony DRU700. Haven't had any problems with it. You can find some good deals online (several brands to choose from), and even Best Buy and Circuit City have them. The only problem is finding dual-layer disks. The supply is limited right now, and they're running $9-13 online, haven't seen any retail yet. Of course like everything else, the price will come down.

I have a NEC-2510A and it burns like a champ. i haven't tested it's dual layer capabilities yet, but Nero InfoTool says that it has the capability. right now i'm having problems with it having a lot of errors when burning data and audio CD-R discs. i believe the problem is the firmware though. btw i've only had it for a few weeks so i'm still getting the kinks out.

you should just go look at newegg.com and then search google for some reviews of them. the NEC and the Sony have both gotten good reviews though.

Don't rush out and buy one yet. There are 4x and even 8x DL burners in the pipeline and discs are hard to find now. I'll probably stick the Sony in my kid's comp and upgrade later myself.
