DVD audio

Ok i have a problem with my sound....when i play a DVD i hear the background music and background sounds but i cant hear the people talking in hte movie but it works fine on the DVD player on my TV. can anyone help me? thanks.

 

what sound card do you have? what player (to view videos) do you have? what os, wha'ts your speaker setup, etc., do you have?

if you plug in some headphones do you hear all the sound? it could be possible that you have a speaker setting that's wrong (like 2-4 speaker system), or surround sound, when you don't have it at all? in order for my headphones to work, i have to change my setting to 4 speaker system, when i only have 2 speakers. i'd also check the settings within your player. anyway, just some input. - sos

 

I have XP home, I Use Dell Media Experience to view videos but i also have the same problem with windows media player, i have the same problem with speakers and with headphones plugged in. i just have 2 speakers that came with the computer and a buffer or something like that with the speakers. My sound card is creative soundblaster live

 

Uhhh, sounds like your computer is setup for surround sound, when actually you have only two speakers hooked up. Typically the reason why you can't hear the voices of the actors is usually because the center channel is set for voices of the actors.

Try the following:

Click start, setting, control panel, then double click "Sounds and Audio Devices".

Under speaker settings, click on advanced. Near the bottom where it says speaker setup, select "Desktop stereo speakers". Hit OK, then OK again. Try playing your movie.
