ok i have a SONY DW-Q30A and it works fine in in Win XP Pro 32bit however it won't burn a DVD in Win XP Pro 64Bit. It reads CDs/DVDs fine but won't burn to a DVD(i didn't try a cd but i doubt it will work either). When you use the windows burning stuff aka drag and drop it give me an error that say somthing like "error coping files do you want to retry/about/cancel" When i try to use nero 6.6.x.x it doesn't even see the drive at all. Does any one know what could cause this? I tried to contact sony but they said "We would like to be able to provide support for your product, unfortunately, the product you have is not a Sony-supported product." Not sure how you don't support a product that you produce.

    Thanks,

    Peter K

because the filmware and drivers were never made for x64 OS + processor combo, reverting back to x32 OS would fix this.
