DVD Burner Driver Missing

This just started a few weeks ago. I am having connection problems with my DVD burner. I have a LG GSA-E60L and windows is not recognizing it and no driver is installed. I know windows is suppose to recognize it but it is not. I've been in the device manager and found that it is under USB controllers - Unknown device. I've uninstalled it and restarted to see if it would re recognize it and it won't. Any thoughts?

Yes already tried there. Unfortunately, all I get when I search for it is an electronic version of the owners manual, which I already have in print, and that even does not solve my problem.

 

Have you looked at this article? It's usually for fixing CD/DVD drives that don't appear in My Computer, but it may work in your situation. You can also try this:
If running WinXP, put your Windows disc in your CD drive and click Exit when the big blue window opens. Then, click Start > Run and type cmd and press Enter. In the black window that opens, type sfc /purgecache and pres Enter. It shouldn't take more than 2 minutes (usually a lot less) to complete. Then type sfc /scannow and press Enter. This 2nd command can take MUCH longer to finish. "sfc" is the System File Checker and will scan your OS and try to repair any damaged system files by copying new ones from the CD. When it's complete, type exit and press Enter. Then go to the Device Manager and uninstall the drive and resboot. Hopefully that will work :-D Good luck!

I went to that link and deleted the Upper Filter in my registry and it now seems to be working fine! Thanks for your help!!
