I just recently bought a Toshiba SD-R5372 DVD burner. I installed it and it worked great for a while, but lately it hasn't been working right. It's capable of burning CDRs and 52X, but my computer will only support 48X burning. But the last couple CDs I've burnt were at 4X, and it took a while for it to start burning. I replaced the ribbon cable, but that still didn't help. I don't know what else to do or what else it would be. I'm hoping it's not the burner itself. Can anyone give me any suggestions? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

From what I see, that drive support's max CD-R burn speed of 48x.
Your computer has nothing to do with that.
What burning program are you using? a setting may be limiting your burn speed.
What kind/brand of media are you using, problem may be there, try another brand & one that supports at least 48x.
    A firmware update may help.

Sometimes max burn speed isnt the best option for Quality, but you should be able to burn at the max speed if ya desire.

I'm using Easy CD Creator 5 basic. I know a lot of people that don't like it, but I've used it for a long time and never had a problem with it until now. I am also using Memorex CD-Rs that support up to 52X. So I don't think that should be the problem. I installed the latest firmware upgrade as soon as I installed the drive. I will check my settings in Easy CD Creator to see what I can find.
