DVD burner problem

I have a compaq and it came with a dvd burner cd burner combo, i have used the cd burner before and only use the dvd burner once befor and that was a long time agao to make a copy. I have just recently tryed to use the dvd burner again and it dosnt seem to work.

Once i put a blank dvd disc in the dvie nothing happens, it dosnt reconise it and when i try to burn a dvd it tells me there is no disc in the drive.

If some one could help me fix this problem, tat would be great.

What version is it?
