dvd burner tv settop with flash slot

hi ,
i have just gotten a dvd burner hooked to my tv ,a phillips, it has a usb flash drive , so i m trying to convert my vcd's to dvd 's this way, it works , but usually when you say copy a movie off tv to a dvd it needs to finalize, then it is playable on another dvd player, with the usb option it doesn't seem to be able to finalize the disc, and so it won't play on my other dvd player,
this is a phillips dvdr3400 model..any help?please..
