dvd burning: it doesn't all fit!

alright my fellow geekies. i am need help.
have downloaded The Fellowship of The Ring in AVI format. came with some other files: The Fellowship of The Ring - Fin.srt, and The Fellowship of The Ring - Swe.srt. not sure what .srt files are. at any rate, i'm converting them to DVD files so i can burn and watch on a standalone player, but it's too long a movie to fit all on one disc. i don't have any dual layers either. can i burn it to two separate discs?

 

Yes pick the files you want to burn and transfer them . When picking them take the large ones as the small are usually traliers. Get a dual layer they are only about 70 to 80 US. Look for a two sheep burner. Try Any DVD along with Clone DVD theiy both work together and have saved me many a headache. Find them both on this sight.

 

FYI, .srt files are plain text subtitles you don't have to worry about those.

jlovell: i don't want to use dual layer. i just want to split the movie onto two standard dvd discs.

i've converted the files to dvd format. now i have these:

VTS_01_0.BUP - 170 KB
VTS_01_0.IFO - 170 KB
VTS_01_1.VOB - 1,037,644 KB
VTS_01_2.VOB - 1,037,456 KB
VTS_01_3.VOB - 1,037,618 KB
VTS_01_4.VOB - 1,037,542 KB
VTS_01_5.VOB - 1,037,330 KB
VTS_01_6.VOB - 962,930 KB

my question is: can i put the first 6 or so files on one dvd, and the rest of them on another? or do i need the .BUP and .IFO files on both discs? i'm not really sure what those are.. menus?
