DVD Burning

I have a DVD burner now and i Downloaded some Movies(Legally). I want to burn them on a DVD. How do i do it? Is it as easy as burning a CD? It sounds complicated with the Dual Layer and such. So help me. How do i do it? And what program should i use?

Alot depends on the format you've downloaded the movie in.
If it is an image of a DVD (file extensions .ISO, .MDS, .NRG, .IMG), then all you have to do is burn the file in a program capable of burning images. Two such programs are Nero, and the freeware, ImgBurn.

Post back if it is something else. (ie .AVI, .MPEG)

 

The one i downloaded is .IMG

Now, what if i were to download a .avi for example, would i be able to burn it on a DVD and watch it on my DVD Player?

 

Not directly. However, there are apps such as AVI2DVD (freeware) and ConvertXtoDVD (shareware) that will convert an AVI/MPEG into an image file that you can burn as normal.

ConvertXtoDVD used to be called DivXToDVD, and was available as freeware. I always thought this app did a much better job than AVI2DVD, but you can't get DivXToDVD for free anymore :cry

 

So if i make the avi file into an image, i can watch it on the DVD player hooked up to my TV?

 

Yes, after burning the image to disc, of course.
