DVD Burning?...

I've been using ConvertXtoDVD for years now, and it works perfect.
However recently all the discs I've made cut out after about 20mins of playback. It's starting to annoy me, I've wasted at least 9 discs now...
I've burnt about 150 discs. Any idea what my problem could be? The software is up to date so it shouldn't be that...

Have you starting using a different type/brand of blank disc? If so, either switch to a known good brand and/or update the firmware in your DVD burner. You should be able to download firmware updates from your DVDRW maker's web site. What about other burns, like audio CD's, or data; do those work OK? Maybe try a different converting and burning app. I recommend DVD Flick (link: http://www.majorgeeks.com/DVD_Flick_d5530.html). I've converted/burned over 100 movies with DVD Flick and never had an issue: not ONE bad burn! Here's a good how to guide for DVD Flick: http://www.beginwithsoftware.com/videoguides/dvd-flick-guide.html It will convert just about any format (MPEG, AVI, MOV, RM, FLV, MKV, WMV, and more) and burn it with ImgBurn (which is built-in). Be sure to set the burn speed in ImgBurn BEFORE starting the conversion process; open the DVD Flick folder in Program Files, and launch ImgBurn from there, set the burn speed (I use 4x; I wouldn't recommend faster than 8x), close it, and then start DVD Flick... It takes about 90min from AVI to watching a DVD in my home player; speed depends on your PC's hardware and if you're using it while converting. I turn off screensavers and just about everything else, turn off the monitor, and go have a couple beers. When I come back, I pop in my new movie.... too cool ;)

You're very welcome! I think you'll like DVD Flick. After you've used it couple of times, it'll be 2nd nature... add a title, set your chapters, name the disc, and click create. Nothin' to it! Approx 90min later you're watching the movie on the wide screen TV! I've had some playback problems with ConvertXtoDVD in the past also so I don't use it anymore, no reason to. I've also used WinAVI and it is fast, like 25 minutes to convert a 700mb AVI file to DVD, and another 7 minutes or so to burn it with Nero, but it has also given me some playback issues recently, but DVD Flick keeps producing quality discs.... anyway, I'm starting to ramble.....
