   Is there sofware available that will allow me to burn a dvd on a cd writer?

   Hi
   
   Sadly no as the hardware mechanism to burn a DVD is different to a CD. While A CD Burning wont do DVDs a DVD burner is backward compatible and will do CDs.
   
   If friend has DVD burner ask them to burn it if you need this quickly or dont with to buy a DVD burner.
   
   
   Funds permitting a DVD burners are not too expensive these days.
