are you sure it is an dvd burner and not just a rom drive? if it is a dvd burner use the dvdshrink program that will work.

It may be a CD/DVD Rom+CD-R burner drive? Check the manufacturers website or your manual to see for sure.

    Compaq Presario R3000

    TOSHIBA ODD-DVD SD-R6252

    Philips DVD+R blank discs

I did try a DVD-R ritek blank disc prior by mistake...I think that may be the problem

can use to compress movie to fit your media most movies too big to fit on one disc, also use to edit extras can add or remove.

    works great with Nero

Download it check it out wont hurt anything, you can delete if you dont like it, but I must say the program Kicks Butt.

I am not to sure its the software that is the problem...

When I use Roxio, I load it up to burn,it says

data project size:1781.8 MB on 1 disc.....(Estimated free space 2700.4 MB)

I put in blank DVD ....I click the Burn icon.....

    record set-up comes up

Nothing is available to select on the writing speed...I'm sure there should be

    I click ok

I then get...warning yellow triangle with please insert blank disc

when clicking the menu at the top

    Disc - Disc Information....

I get the following under Disc Type

Bad Media . Error reading disc information

try dvdshrink or anyother burner suite ( padus duscjuggler, my ps favorite)

I use DVD Shrink 3.2 with Nero and it works great with Ridata DVD-Rs. Are you absolutely sure that you've used this burner to burn DVDs? Most combo drives I've seen in laptops only burn to CDs. Also DVD+Rs are incompatible with some players.

Hi Stephen273, I have the same problem you had (with Roxio and the same Toshiba) except that the media is a Sony DVD+R 1x-8x and my drive is 1.0x or 2.4x. Could you please let me know what software you installed for your disks to work?
    Many thanks, Carlos.
