    Hey all

I was wondering if any of you have used or know of any tool that will aid in compiling several DVD clips into one file or a series of files that can be burnt onto DVD.

For example using DVD shrink (I may have ;) ) taken several favorite scenes from several different DVD's. DVD shrink has saved these scenes in ISO format to my hard drive.

I now wish to take these several ISO files and either convert them into one file or burn them in sequence to a single DVD.

Can anyone give me any advice or you may have used a freeware program to do just this action.

    Thanks!

Its the VOB files you want out of the iso. If you haven't made these iso's yet it would be best if you chose to save the files to the hard drive with Shrink instead of making iso's, that way the vob files would be easily accessable without the need for an iso app. Vob's are really a container for mpeg files and you can actually rename them to mpeg and get away with it.

What to do with them is another problem, there are the complicated but very versital programs like Adobe Premier. The less complicated but still require a bit of a learning curve like TMPGEnc Dvd Author. Or the absurdly simple file editing and joining apps like Virtual Dub Mod.

The Modded version Of Virtual Dub will open Vob files directly and allow you to edit them but only save as avi which would have to be reconverted back to mpeg for a dvd. So TMPEnc would be a better choice for you, combined with TMPGEnc Dvd Author 2.1 you would edit the files with TMPGEnc and Import them into the Author to make menu's and order the files as one track or multiple tracks. It ain't easy and it takes some playing around.

There is a new version of the Author, 3.0 with divx support which will import avi files as well and convert them for you on the fly but its even more complicated than its older brother.

There is no easy way to describe what you need to do for this task, it would take a multi page tutorial to explain in detail how to go about making the dvd. The first step is to collect your vob files, so open the iso's and copy them out of there.

Welcome to Major Geeks. Appzalien is very much on the ball in his above post. You may have gone too far in creating the ISO images. You may want to convert the clips into individual AVI files, then you can use DVDFlick or FAVC to create a single DVD from the clips, or use any video joiner (like Virtual Dub) to join the clips into one large file, then convert it to DVD format....

You could convert to avi but since your intention is to go back to dvd I would try something with less reconversion first. there are a few apps I haven't used yet that might be what your looking for. I have them in my arsenal but haven't had the need to load them yet. One is Dvd Rebuilder, here's a quote from its description:

"DVD ReBuilder was built to bridge the gap between the incredibly easy but limited "one-click" solutions and the incredibly complex but high-quality methods of DVD ripping and backup. Another advantage of DVD-RB when compared to older methods is that it doesn't require access to an expensive authoring package. DVD-RB includes its own reauthoring engine that reconstructs the DVD in a way compatible with its original design."

To get an Idea what it can and can't do you should visit their site. Its not freeware.

    Then there's DvdRemake Pro:

"DvdReMake Pro is a powerful, yet intuitive DVD editor that will let you change content, appearance and navigation of a DVD disk without the need for complete disk re-authoring. Using unique editing features of the DvdReMake Pro you can completely customize your DVD backups, fix authoring errors, merge DVDs or even compile a new DVD from bits and pieces of other DVD disks."

The advantage for you here is you remain in Dvd format and don't have to reencode anything so you will not loose quality in compression and decompression as mpeg to avi back to mpeg would do.

Niether program is freeware, you can find more information and download links will an appropriate google.
