DVD Converters

I would like to convert home recorded dvds (recorded on dv camcorder and transferred to a dvd) to a format suitable for uploading to a website. The dvd contains video and synchronized audio (one folder, Video_ts, containing 4 *.vob files, 2*.ifo and 2 *.bup files and one ini file. I have tried several shareware converters, trying to convert to avi format and haven't had any success.

Can someone tell me exactly what I need to accomplish this? Thanks very much for any info.

 

If the video files are to be posted on a web site they should probably be in FLV format (flash), unless you're uploading the video so that others can download it. In that case, you'll probably want AVI format, or maybe MPG. A quality program for many types of video converting is WinAVI, but it isn't free. I think it's about $30.00, it's VERY easy to use, and it converts FAST. For freeware try SUPER (link: http://www.majorgeeks.com/Super_d5117.html) or MediaCoder (link: http://www.majorgeeks.com/MediaCoder_d4987.html). Either of those two should allow you to convert DVD format to just about anything else. I haven't used SUPER in quite some time (and never used MediaCoder) so I can't really help out with usage... sorry.

 

Thanks for the info. I would like for the public to have access, either streaming or downloading. Which format would be most convient for those accessing the video? I assume that a viewer for the format that is posted would be required on the downloading or viewing computer. Thanks again for the help.

 

For streaming use FLV format(Flash),and this format will be convenient for downloading.
