DVD Decoder for ATI

I just wiped my OS and reinstalled everything. When I got to the video drivers, I reinstalled them with no problem, but the multimedia center required me to prove I owned the DVD Decoder at one point by having me insert the CD.

First off, I wouldn't have downloaded the multimedia center had I known I 'd have to find the CD anyway. (sorry, lil bit of a rant there...)

Secondly, and more importantly, I can't find that CD. Does anyone have any (preferably legal, but will settle with bending license agreements) suggestions on how to get around this? Has anyone ever had this problem? Anyone agree with me that it's stupid to prove you have the DVD Decoder by CD and not by hardware detection (considering their damn card was in my computer at the time)?

    Thanks

Yes, thank you for your response, but as you hopefully read, I downloaded the drivers. The downloads in the google search you just pointed me to point to a file called "atiCDwiz." That wizard checks for the original ATI CD, which I don't have. And back to the original problem I go.

I agree. I have the same problem with an ATI vivo card. ATI doesn' make this same type of card anymore, so a freind of mine sold me his and installed it. It worked fine for a year and I never thought about the disk. He moved where abouts unknown and my system hard drive crashes hard. Put in a new hard drive load everything up and realize I do not have the drivers. I figure no problem I will download them from ATI, low and behold I find the DVD will not load unless you use an original disk. To make a long story longer you can buy it from ATI it is like $25.00. I figure it would probably cheaper to buy a new video card. But it won't be an ATI just out of principal.

I have the same problem. It is crap that ati chooses to treat thier customers this way. I paid alot of money for the card and now I am unable to use what I paid for because of a damaged cd. I like the all in wonder but I wont get another one because of this problem.
