DVD disk drives go out simultaneously.

    I have A DVD Rom and a RW that quit working at the same time both with no previous warning. The error message I receive is:

    --- ?\is not accessible

    the disk structure is corrupted an unreadable. ---


    Both show up in Windows Explorer but their names have been garbled in the bios. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both physically and in in the device manager. Can anyone help?

    Seeing as their names have been garbled in the BIOS, it would appear that there is where the problem lies.
    Try resetting the CMOS.
    Turn off the computer and open the case.
    Locate the CMOS battery (a small coin shaped, watch type battery on the Motherboard).
    Remove the battery... wait a minute or two and then replace the battery.
    Reboot and see if this clears the problem in the BIOS.
