Dvd drive not recognizing disc has data on it.

Okay, my sister has a disc drive listed in the hardware of her computer as being a _NEC DVD_RW ND-3550A. My sister has used the sims 2 game and expansions in the computer before (she uninstalled them a while ago), but today (while re-installing everything) no matter what she does one expansion's disc simply wont be recognized by the drive. When the disc is inserted into the computer there is a disc icon next to the mouse arrow, but the drive acts as if no disc is in the drive. I've gone to the website for the drive's manufacturer and there is no drivers available for it. Any help is appreciated.

If that disk in recognized in another computer, burn a copy of it and have your sister use the copy to install.

If the disk is not recognized in another computer, try cleaning it. Use distilled water, a clean lint free cloth and run from the inner circle directly out. Never clean a disk by running in a circular pattern.

Thanks for your help. I didn't have a disc handy to copy it to, so I just copied the files to a flash drive and was able to install it for her. I wouldn't have thought of it without you. Thanks again.
