Whats my type of DVD Write, is it - (Minus).... + (Plus) or standard?

What type of Writable DVD's should I use to burn with? DVD -, DVD + or just DVDR

Any second of all, which is the best DVD burning software? for burning large backups, images, etc?

I`ve had this DVD Burner for a while now and havent used it for much other than CD's, last time I bought a DVDR + from memory, tried burning an IMG and it stuffed up within seconds of starting and wasted $5 on just the 1 DVDR Disc!!! Argh

 

It looks like it is DVD-RAM. That's the kind of disc you'll need. For example:

It will burn DVD+R, DVD-R and most everything else. Here is a link to your specs: http://store.yahoo.com/ourstore-2000/lggsindvdroe.html I use DVD+R, tthey are cheaper, but DVD-R is fine, also. I'd stay away from DVD-RAM-
One of the competing recordable DVD standards. Not compliant with regular stand-alone DVD-Video players and not compliant with any DVD-ROM drives either. Normally used as a slow harddrive replacement. Standard is going to die pretty soon as more compatible standards, such as DVD-R and DVD+RW, are getting more popular. I use Nero6, and and so do quite a few others here, you can find it and some others here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads3.html

 

Download and install Nero InfoTool. It will tell you exactly what kind of media the drive will read or write to.
