you do not need driver for a DVD players but you need a players if you want to read DVD like the VLC players

If you check in your hardware device is the DVD there is there a exclamation point over a yellow thing ???

you can find hardware device manager by clicking on "My computer" and selecting "properties".

Can you vew the files? What operating system are you using? Do you have sotfware like Windows Media Player to play them?

yes I can find device manager, I am running windows XP, and I do have a Windows media player. And I have downloaded the VLC media player and still can't figure out how to play DVD's. No exclamation point over the DVD in device manager.

Go to "run" in the start menu, and type "services.msc" and a window will popup. Can you tell from there whether or not those services are are running?

Also, you may need to enable CD bootup in the BIOS mode. What type of PC do you have? When your computer boots up, you can usually get to the BIOS settings by pressing delete over and over. You will want to make sure it is set to boot up, after your floppy drive.

    Step 1
1.Go to the start menu and select "run"
    2. Type "services.msc" in the box
    3. Another window will popup
    4. Select the "action" button and slide your cursor to all tasks and select "start all".

These services are programs that operate Windows

Because of an online game I play I don't want all these services running in the background. Can you be more specific on what service your talking about?
