I searched for anything I could find on that DVD player and came up with no real substance. I did find some models close to yours that only played -R's. It looked like the more expensive Goodman's players will play both, but the lower end ones only play -R's.
That's only a guess, based on models close to yours.
If you have the manual that came with it, you should be able to find out for sure.

Usually either will work, but not so with rw's.

Sorry, I must have lost the W in the RW while searching for the info on that player. Still couldn't find anything. Not even a manual for it on-line. Most of the reviews are limited and product adds lacking info.

From what I've read on various computer forums, I get the impression that some DVD players won't play any RW discs. And some are better at playing -R than +R. It's just a case of finding out what works best on the player you've got.
Videohelp.com has some useful threads about it.

By and large I have found the the DVD - R seems to play on more brands of DVD players then the + type.

If I were you, I'd buy a small number of both and give it a shot. If one type won't work, you can always use them to store general PC data.

It's hard to say sometimes. I had a brand new DVD player (off-brand - Goldstar or something like that) that wouldn't play the DVD's I created, but would play my old Video CD's from my pre-DVD days . . . rolleyes

    Good luck! :)

ya.... -R's usually work more often.... but you also need to check what format you're burning the movie in..... i know with nero there are different format types..... can't thing of what they are and i'm not at home to check..... but i know for one of the dvd players at home wont play +R's and none of them will play in one of the two formats.....

Dvd-R's are the best to use on dvd players since 90% of home standalone ones support them. Dvd+R's are supported more or less on newer dvd player models. Choose any brand and always be sure to burn at 4x. [ie: four speed]

If you need a program that will convert any format video and even create a menu for you, than use ConvertXToDvd available here:

    http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/

That's the best dvd burning softwate in the world if your trying to burn avi, wm, mpeg, etc. It will convert any format and even slice chapters in the video for you automatically at every 5 mins. Which means you can skip seens and search the dvd easily. Try the demo [it leaves a watermark], but you'll see the awesome quality it has!!!
