DVD issues

I have a BALANCE DIGITAL celeron D, windows XP, rewritable DVD device called 'AOPEN COM5232/AAH PRO'. I can write CD's and watch DVD movies on this drive, but I am unable to access it when trying to burn data. I've tried multiple softwares to include ImgBurn, Express Burn, and Nero, but none is able to burn to this DVD rewritable. My system hardware shows it as 'D:' drive, but without corresponding information. I have uninstalled/reinstalled but that didn't help. It does not become ready when trying to burn data. I use to be able to burn copies of DVD's where just recently I rebuilt the system with it original recovery software. That's when my trouble started. I can just catch a message something about 'position unknown'. Anyone have any ideas?

 

Sorry people. My bad. I just received information that this is a DVD ROM and CD rewritable, not the other way around.

 

Happens all the time. LOL
