I don't know what is wrong. My DvD player was working fine up to the point I had to do a System Recovery. Yes, I did a system recovery back to factory defaults. But now I can get the darn Dvd player to open or close.
    Confusing right?

Ok, here the problem... My DVD player is open to about an inch, but wont open all the way. And when I try to close it, it wont stay closed.

    Can anyone help me?

    Hi,
You would of been better off posting this issue in the Hardware Forum for better assistance!!!
Can you give us as much info you know about your machine, make/model/laptop/tower and what OS you are running. I would suggest that you try to remove the drive and boot the machine so it recognises that the drive is not there, then shut down and reseat the drive and boot up, see if that resolves the issue.

    Sorry, you are right.

    Tosheba Satellite L455D-S5976. It's a Lap Top.
    Windows 7 Premium 32 bit.
    AMD Semprom SI-42

Now your saying Remove the Drive> Ok, thats coool. But What? I don't get it> I am not good with that kind of stuff. If I remove it, how do I get it back on?

Most Satellites have one screw from the bottom (in the middle of the DVD drive) holding in the DVD drive. (Remove battery and power before disconnecting) You would remove the screw and slide the drive out. Power on the computer let it start up Windows and then shut down Windows. Reconnect the DVD drive and turn on computer and see if it operates properly.

I can't be sure that model has a single screw but you should be able to take a quick look.

On the bottom of the laptop about five to six inches back from the edge of the laptop in them middle of the dvd drive there should be a screw. remove that screw. there may be a second one as well but once this screw is removed the dvd drive will slide right out of its slot.

follow sach2's instruction of starting and shutting down with the drive out!!

    @sach2 ..... Thanks!! ;)

    Good find falconattack!

Mooapo, it looks like the one screw is under the Memory cover.

Step 6 shows the DVD screw hole with the screw removed.
Step 4 shows the DVD screw still in the screw hole.
Step 1 shows the screw to remove the memory cover.
