Ok, so i want to burn some movies but i don't know which type to use. DVD+R or DVD-R. I've been looking online and most everyone has been saying they are pretty much the same with only a few differences. Wikipedia says they are almost the same except for some technical stuff that average users would never notice. But i was wondering if any of you experienced geeks know differently. Is there a noticeable difference? Which type would you recommend?

Different industry standards. DVD-R seems to be winning out.

DVD-R would be the most compatible in non pc dvd players.

Burning home movies, right? Anything else is illegal.

of course.... is DVD-R good for storing data other than movies too?

On a computer -/+R makes no difference. Both formats are good for data DVD's. Which one you buy is really just a matter of what your home DVD players will read. Check the manuals and make sure you get discs that are compatible with your players.

I prefer DVD-R because I've found they are able to be read by more computer DVD drives and standalone DVD players.
