An interesting problem my grandad had just recently.

He's been using Zip disks to store a catalog of information on his music collection (as you do), and he has nearly 700MB worth of files there. Just recently, he's got a DVD Recorder drive, and he thought that he may as well back up all his info onto a DVD-R.

He copied all the existing info onto the DVD-R... and now he uses windows intergrated writing to save information onto the CD (I forget what its called, but it will write the information to the DVD when you save a document to the drive, like saving it to your hard drive).

For some unexplained reason, he now cannot save information to the DVD-R, as its being recognised by windows as an Audio CD... when it is neither audio, nor a CD!

Anyone got any ideas as to WTH is going on?

    Have some specs :
Windows ME (fully updated)... DVD-R drive ... 256MB RAM .... not sure about much else. I'll need to find out what dvd writing software he uses...but does anyone have any ideas?

Well when i say Windows Intergrated Writing, i mean like a program that will allow you to save to a DVD just like you'd save to a floppy drive or whatever. It sound like that program is failing to me. I'll have to ask him next time i speak to him

you would need to give us the apps name Goldy, as I dont think ME ever came with CD writing built in like the XP Roxio designed app....

what I can only guess at at present is that using whatever app he's using plus a DVD-R its finalizing the session so no more data can be added, now if DVDRWs were used then they can be used with packet writing/drag N drop style.... thats what i'm using at present to image my OS partition with.
