On the MG front page a day or two ago, we had a new release of Catalencoder, and it's a bit misleading . . . it doesn't say anything about being able to rip commercial DVDs in your collection to DivX backups. It DOES say it will rip DVDs to DivX, but doesn't specifically mention protected (ie; commercial) discs. I went to their web site (it's in French so I had to use Google Translate which isn't very accurate all the time) and again, no mention of its ability (or inability) to rip commercial DVDs. Well, it can't. I tried with 2 different movies. It will simply spin the DVD drive forever, and sit at 0% forever. No messages about not being able to deal with protected movies, no error, nothing . . . . it just sits there. I'm sure it works fine with movies that have already been decrypted (which I'm going to take a look at in the next day or so).
