hi, im looking for a good simple to use DVD ripping software, i want to rip DVD's to my hard drive on my laptop so that i cam watch them on the move without loads of disks. i have veen searching for this software but the programs i have downlaoded have been S*^T or too complicated. i also would like the files to be as small as possible to save room on my hard drive.

can anyone suggest any programs that are free that enables me to do this in ease?

    thanks

Both of the above programs are great, but are designed to rip the DVD & only compress it to the point it'll fit onto a blank DVD...making the resulting movie approx 4.7GB in size.

If you want to make the movie as small as possible, you'd be better off to rip it into Divx format. You lose a little video quality (not much), but you can get most movies down to about 700MB...small enough to fit on a regular CD-R.

I don't know of any free ones off-hand, but this program is only like $7.00 to register:

He said he was going to keep them on his harddrive, so I assumed size wasn't an issue. I dont know how low you can go with Shrink, but I imagine you can get it pretty low. Wavetar is right though, rip them into Divx format.

Shrink can get movies down to under 700mbs. So, you may just want to use that, as it's easy and user friendly.

I've never tried it, but can it possibly be good resolution at 700MB while keeping the DVD .vob format?

I have no idea. I have never tried it either. Maybe it's setup so when it's gets past a certain size it changes format...I have no idea
