DVD rom acting strange.

My DVD rom has always been kinda weird, first if there is a disk in it it doesnt want to open up when I try and push the button or go to the drive and click eject it trys to auto play the disk in there. Then after pushing it repeatedly for a random amount of time it finally opens up then it doesnt want to read any disk that goes in until I open and close it for a random number of times. I got oblivion last night and it didnt want to open up but after 5 min which is alot longer then it normally is I got it to open, but now it wont read anything no matter how often I open and close it. What in the world would cause something like this? Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.

 

You might have to buy a new dvd rom drive, their not really expensive.
