DVD-ROM is read only after xp sp2 upgrade??

I upgraded my tosiba satelite laptop to xp sp2 from ms website and I have been able to repair most "incompatibility" issues thus far with exception to my DVD-ROM drive. I seems to only read, I can no longer record to disc.
Any suggestions? Please!!?

 

You need to fully update , now, and then try it.
There have been a few issues with cd/dvd writing software, so you might need to update that, too.
Return, and ask again, if /when you have done that.

Yes, Windows update, and if you have Nero, or whatever writing software , go to the software site to see if it needs an udated driver for sP2.

 

Besides SP2, there are some 60, or, 70 updates for XP. Most of the time these updates cure the problems.

 

hahaha, ok so I know I am an idiot, the computer knows I am an idiot( I dont know how, but I am sure it does!) and now I am telling you that I am haha............ So how do I find out what my wrighting software is?? (sorry, but think you for your patience and assistance!)

 

Many of us learned the hard way - You just need to look at installed programs, --Nero is a common one, unless you are only using XP's built in CD Writer, which should update itself, with other updates - sometimes Microsoft updates fix a previous update (a few of the 'fixe's' needed another update to fix the problems they gave), and solve problems.

 

If you do not have a writing program,You can go to this download for free writing software.But do not put a second writing program on , if you already have one- it can prove to be troublesome, unless you uninstall the previous one first.
So come back if you have problems, as some programs need to be removed using other fixes , first (especially Roxio, and Nero)

I know I have Roxio- I hate it and find it to be the "bassakwards cd creator" and I never use it.
