Have you checked in Device Manager to see if there are any yellow flags indicating a problem with an installed device? Something else to consider, http://support.microsoft.com/gp/cd_dvd_drive_problems. And there is also the possibility that you may have to uninstall and reinstall your CD/DVD burning program. Hope this helps. :)

yeah there is a yellow exclamation sign error...."Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

the windows diagostics link you gave me wont run...says runtime error

ill try uninstalling and reinstalling right now and see what happens :)
