Dvd-rom Sd-m1212

    Hello and thank you for your assistance.
    I am trying to install a Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-M1212 on Win XP and I have chained it with my other cd rom drive but When I got to hardware manager it only shows the DVD rom and the Drive will not read anything! Audio, Dvd, Game, Nothing! In properties it says device is working fine! but obviously not!
    Any thoughts?:mad:

    The first drive needs to be master, the second needs to be cable select. ed

    Heres what i would do, hook up the toshiba as master, leave the other off the ribbon[cable] and see if the toshiba works in the first place, trial and error i guess. Put the toshiba at the end of the ribbon[cable]. Another thought , are you using the newer ribbon? most i have seen will have one end the color blue that plugs in the MOBO. ed
