DVD RW doesn't play DVDs or CDs

Hello,

I just reformatted and my DVD RW doesn't play DVDs or CDs. I've downloaded the video and audio drivers that were provided by the maker of my laptop. Its a QSI DVD+-RW SDW-082K and I'm running WinXP Pro.

Any suggestions?

Does it happen with all CD/DVD brands?
If you have Nero installed, try reinstalling it, it had caused tha same problem to me.

 

Have you reinstalled the authorising software ?, as Albatrossgr has hinted- the writing software often has this in its' package, otherwise did you have power dvd installed, or similar.
Writing software causes no end of dvd errors, so come back if Albatrossgr fix does not work.
Also in a previous thread, we went through various fixes,
Check in Bios to see if ide settings are on automatically detect,as this can be one fix,
If not go to my computer , properties, hardware, device manager, try scan for hardware changes first, if no good , uninstall the dvd, and shut down, and restart, and let windows find it , again.
