DVD-RW drive not working at all

    My son went to play his game and it would not work at all. I went on to trouble shooting and they recommended trying to play a cd in the media player it also did not work. Not really sure if this has anything to do with it but we had a nasty lighting storm blow through here the other day and it seemed to have crapped out right after that but not really sure if that is the reason but it is very coincidental. Any advice out there the Help and support on my computer is not very helpful.

    Hi

    If the PC was on at the time and was shutdown prematurely due to a lightning strike then possible it could be damaged.

    But do some checks first,

    If your upto it, with PC off open the side up and unplug the IDE and Power connectors from the DVD Drive and re-connect them, could just be a loose connection.

    In Device Manager do you have any yellow ! marks? if so by what?

    Which Windows version are you using?
