Dvd rw dru-530a

I recently installed this device, Ran into the same common issues..

got the firm wire, un-installed and re-installed and they got fixed..

So now i can burn a cd-r or dvd-r But i can't erase them and reuse them..

I'm assumeing the data cd was finalised an i'm sure the iso was finalized..

thus makeing both disc read only.. and not rw.. I attempted eraseing them anyway.. and that only results in 0space free and 0 space used.. and they detect as cd-r now..

So the problem is definately software, and the options used when burning..

A mutli-session option is needed for true dvd-rw or cd-rw

Where can i find such a program?

 

You do not need multi-session burning enabled for using rewritable discs. You need rewritable discs (DVD-RW, DVD+RW, CD-RW). Recordable discs (CD-R, DVD-R, DVD+R) cannot be erased and reused. Multi-session burning allows more data to be added to a disc at a later date but it will not magically make any recordable disc erasable and rewritable. That is solely a physical property of rewritable media.

 

yes i know this, that is not what i am implying..

weither you have a "r" or "RW" doesnt make a diffrence if the disk is "finalized" or locked.. most software i've found does this automatically and not per my own settings..

rendering most or all cd-rw dvd -rw useless.. and takeing out the ability to re-write data..Or erase it..:cry

So yes it is needed to find software that has a multi-session feature. that i can see and verify before i write the data.

As stated before.. I used a DVD-RW and after the data was written. using xp's drag and drop method. the dvd-rw was then detected as a cd-r after the finished burn.. this is wrong. And a result of not having a multi-session format available..

I use Ashampoo Burning Studio. Once you erase the disc, you can use it again.
