dvd tray won't open

My dvd tray won't open I have tried sticking a paper clip in but it just goes straight in the hole no resistance or anything and it still won't open any help please

 

Your probably just missing the release, straighten paper clip wiggle it.
I've seen cd/dvd drives jamb shut due to media jamb, media/disk wasnt laying flat in the tray when closed.
You could take it apart, remove drive from your case/pc then disasemble the drive, probably only 4 screws holding drive case together.
A drive gear or belt may have broke, or media jamb.
Maybe time to buy new drive!

 

I have just found that the drive is not showing up in device manager any ideas

Check cables, IDE & molex power plug.
Try different IDE channel if the cables seem fine.

Have you done anything to this PC or did the drive just suddenly Quit working?
Are you having any other problems?


Dead Drive?????
