This is a weird problem I've been getting recently.

When I d-click on the My Computer Icon my DVD-drive shows up with the label of "CD Drive". Now I know this wasn't the case a awhile ago.

I didn't noticed when it changed, I just know that it did.

When I check the properties it says the type is just a regular CD drive.

It plays all of my DVD fine, so I guess it's not busted.

Should I just uninstall, restart and reinstall the device?

I own a Dell Dimension Desktop 8200 Pentium 4 2.26 GHx 512 MB RAM running Windows XP.

    Thanks for very much!

Thats a personal choice man, sometimes if it aint broke leave it be, but if it bothers you that much you could try uninstalling it through device manager, rebooting and letting Windows re-install it

When I put a CD in either of my DVD drives, it will be displayed as a CD-ROM drive until I remove the CD and close the window. Then when I reopen the window, it reverts back to being identified as a DVD-ROM drive. There is nothing wrong that I can tell, probably one of those Windows quirks that are strange, though harmless.

True, it is still working. I at least should be thankful it isn't eating DVD's.
