DVD viewing software?

Is there software that is free, without too much spyware, that I can use to view DVDs on my computer?

I use Windows Media Player to play DVD's. If you use WMP, you will need a DVD Decoder installed to play them.

 

I have Windows Media Player but it says that the decoder is something that I must pay to download and use. Is that true? If so, are there any alternatives or would you recommend media player? I had software with my computer (something toshiba related) but my computer was reformated and I don't have this anymore.

Probably a silly question - but what is WMP? I am simply interested in playing a regular movie DVD.

 

You must have a DVD Decoder however there are free ones available.

WMP is Windows Media Player.

I have uploaded the free DVD Codec I use to my server, if you like you can download this one. Like I said it's free as I use it with Windows Media Player. Simply download, save to desktop, extract the contents and run setup. After the install you should be able to play DVD's in media player.
