    Current System:

    P4 2.8C (800fsb "Northy")
    865PE Neo-2
    WD 120gb HDD (bought system used so I'm not sure what model but its not SATA)
    Mushkin 512mb PC-4000 (x1)
    Leadtek A-340 (FX-5200 chip)
    MSI CD-RW, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM
    Starlogic 450W psu

    Besides a DVD-writer and software*, I'm interested in what else I should get as well as anything listed above that should be replaced with something better. - Thnx

    *I'm open for suggestions on these too!

    everything is fine for dvd writing. your system more than exceeds requirements. what media are you going to get?

    Your system will be more than adequate for DVD burning. I have a Sony DRU700 dual layer recordable DVD drive that came with Nero 6 software, but NEC and Lite-on also have DL burners for under $100 online. I've had no problems with nor heard many complaints about Nero myself. You will find a trial version here (link: http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads3.html ) of Nero, plus DeepBurner Pro and CDBurner XP Pro, freeware CD and DVD burning apps if you want to save money. There is also DVD Shrink, which allows you to make a compressed back-up copy of your DVD movies onto a single layer recordable DVD, and DVD Decrypter, which allows you to make an uncompressed original quality DVD backup image onto your HD, or to burn it to a dual layer disc (most DVD movies are on DL discs).

    @Strogg:

    If your talking blank discs, I haven't thought much on that (brand/type) aspect yet but, from what I hear, that might depend on what writer I end up buying. Would that be a factor like, on a major scale? If so, are some writers more "finicky" than others and do you have a favorite media? BTW, thanx for replying.

    @Just Playin:

    I have an OEM Nero 6 disc that came bundled with my CD writer and if I remember right (not installed at this time), I think it might have a Dvd burning program on it too. I've also downloaded a free-version of DeepBurner and that might have something too. Anyway, thanx for your reply.

    And sorry to all that I took so long getting back as I dozed-off right after I made my post!
