I tried to play a DVD and got the message "a required .DLL file, DVDRGCTL.DLL was not found". I have spent many hours searching for answers. My system:
    Compaq Presario 1800/ 98SE/ Pentium III - 650 MHz/
    Toshiba DVD-ROM/ SD-C2302 DVDROM/ Firmware Revision 1W13

I don't know if I accidently cleaned something when I was doing Spybot/adaware cleanup some time ago. Haven't used the DVD player for a while. I also ran something that was supposed to clean the register. It may have been EasyCleaner. I remember it was something that was supposed to find all the extraneous stuff that no longer was pointing to anything. I may have a file somewhere with a list of this stuff. Don't know where it would be or if I deleted it. OK-I need to keep a better track of what I did.
    Any help out there?

I fixed it! Got a post back on duxcw.com forum. I looked for the file name using find and ended up using Internet Explorer to track it back to a WINZIP utility of CleanSystem. I got back into the backup file of all my "cleaned not used DLL's" and restored them all.
    Thank you.:)
(I don't know how to selectively reinstall the DVD software from my Quick Restore CD or Emergency Recovery CD.)
