I have an Optorite DD0405. Whenever I insert a disc, it doesn't recognize that there is a disc in there. Normally Windows would pop up saying please insert a valid disc into the drive when I double click on it, but when I do it, it opens the drive, but doesn't show any files. I can't play a disc that I place in there. It seems to be unresponsive, I don't even hear it start to spin the disc. I can open and close the drive by right clicking on it in windows, and the lights on it work, it just doesn't read the discs in there. For a while it was working just fine, but it has given up. I have e-mailed Optorite tech support, but still have not received an answer, and it has been over a week. I have also uninstalled, and reinstalled the driver with no success. I even changed the drive to master. Thanks for your help.

Try the drive in another system. See if it has the same problem. The drive might need to be replaced.
