dvdrw problems

hoping someone can help me out here.i have a lg dvd/rw 16x dual layer.(hl-dt-st dvdram gsa-4163b). the writer shows in my device manager and in my windows explorer. but when i put a disc in it it says no disc in the drive. i have installed the latest firmware the HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4163B A105 and it works fine but after i restart i come up to the same problem. it works after the firmware update to rip but again when i restart. any clues as to how to fix this. DMA is working .

I had this prob in the past and if I remember correctly I reversed the Master/Slave setup... worth a try.
