dvds not properly playing in any program

    Well I have been trying to watch a few of my dvds on my laptop and none of them seem to work anymore. The DVDs themselves are fine, AVIs and mpegs and such work fine. I have tried VLC and other similar players and none of them play the dvd properly

    The screen is nothing but choppy bits of the video, I'm not sure if I need a certain codec or something? I am using windows vista if that is any help.
