I went to the store today to buy some dvd's. They had dvd-R and dvd +R, I didn't know the difference and the clerk was no help so I am asking for help here.

Just to be different,:D I have only ever used DVD+R, with no problems.
Most modern PC's will cater for all versions of CD and DVD formats.
Check your manual for the OEM recommendations, if any, or the PC sales brochure.

I suggest that you buy a couple of each, initially, and see if there is any difference on YOUR PC setup. Bazza

Thanks for the help guys. I really appreciate it, The store where I am going to buy is having a sale which I thought sounded pretty good. Buy one pack of 50 for 14.85 and get another identical pack free , doesn't make any difference----plus or minus. Thanks again

I would suggest buying only DVD-R's because if you're going to be playing these disks you've created on a set-top DVD player(home player) many of the players will not recognize DVD+R disks.

I recommend the -R discs also. Some older DVDRW's won't recoginze the +R and some older std. DVD drives won't read the +R discs.....

I suggest you purchase Preminum media

Here's where I buy most of mine, I like Verbatim

DVD+R is a non-rewritable format and it is compatible with about 89% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs.

DVD-R is a non-rewriteable format and it is compatible with about 93% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs.
