    Hello everyone,

I'm hoping you can help me find a solution to our problem. I work in a surgery department at a local hospital and we use DVI cables for multiple applications. The problem is that the different machines that use them are moved from room to room often causing the golden pins on the inside of the connector to get bent and/or broken from being tossed around, etc.. I have been looking for a protective cover for some time now with no results, preferably a rubber one.

The cables are medically certified and cost much more than your ordinary cable, so solution is necessary. If you know of a place to purchase high quality protective covers please send me a link.

    Thank you

You could just use a cheap cable end, opposite gender

    That's a pretty good idea.

The opposite gender cable end is a good idea, which might have to work. though the most common issue with them getting bent or broken is they are tossed around and adding more weight doesn't seem like the best solution, its why i am looking for a rubber cover and preferably having something connecting it to the wire when not in use

    thanks for replies

    Greetings, iBokhari.

Years ago in the military, we faced similar problems with equipment connectors. The solution we used were quick-drying rubber-based compounds that would mold to the individual components, and could be easily attached to the cable via tie-wraps.

The advantage, of course, was that we didn't have to order specific footprints or sizes - we would simply mix the compound, spread it on the connector(s), and within a couple of hours, a custom cover was formed.

There may be something akin to that on the market today - a Google for 'rubber mold' and 'rubber molding' yields myriad possibilities.

    Something to think about.
