dvi to hdmi sound, pc to lcd tv

hello all, would like to pick your brains, i recently change my tv and now having some problems, i previously had a toshiba lcd and was connected to my pc via dvi to hdmi lead and ran separate 3.5 jack to twin phono for sound.have just got a lg lcd and it has no hdmi sound input on the back i am still using the dvi to hdmi lead and now have no sound, is there a way to get the the sound to go through the hdmi? im running a geforce 7000 it has dvi vga and svideo out. the machine is a presario and does have a component high def audio out, any idaes would be appreciated

This is one of those stupid annoying things you think everyone would have standardised between them but alas they haven't.

To make this work you need either

a] A TV that can split the HDMI video and audio signal i.e input selection settings,I've not seen any TV's that can do this you either have to send everything through HDMI or nothing I'm surprised your old TV had a separate HDMI audio input.
b]A video card that can send audio over HDMI,as far as I know there are only a handful of ATI cards that do audio over hdmi and most TV's won't let you split the the HDMI audio and video signal.

BUT that's not what you have anyway your using a DVI to HDMI converter which ONLY sends the video signal through HDMI it isn't physically possible to send the audio through DVI output so even if you do select to send the audio through HDMI via windows control panel nothing will happen.
