Here is what I have. My network is set up with WPA-PSK. I have a stick working on a second pc but it isn't getting the fateway or the DNS service IP addy.

From the web page for specifications there is not a listing for WPA but only WEP for the USB wifi stick, DWL-122
    .
I have found another stick, newer but long unsupported by D-Link, with the same model number that supports WPA.

I am correct in knowing the differences between the two standards or encryption types is preventing the WPA-PSK network from becoming totally sync'd with the older usb wifi stick?

I was unable to have WPA the encryption to work, mostly due to a Radius Server blank being filled in correctly (at least I am assuming). The Radius server blank is available under the WPA and IEEE802.1X network authentication choices. From the little I read over Radius is it is an older standard coming into service but do not know anything more.

For WEP, the wifi router, DI-514, needs four keys to be placed before the encryption is up and running, is this right in my assumption too? Firmware was updated giving the following Revision:

¤ Added WPA and WPA-PSK support
¤ Added Radio ON / OFF option on Wireless Page
¤ Modified the Time page - Adding Local Computer Time Option

Hence my original question, if I have my net set up for WPA-PSK and the wifi stick is WEP only... then a conflict in not getting the full configuration has occurred?

thanks everyone for reading and to those who will be posting ahead of time.......

Yes. If you wish to use the USB dongle that is WEP only, the whole network has to be at that security level.

the router wasn't keeping any settings after changing them, concluded the router was faulty in some way. bought a newer wi-router without a hitch... it's up and running as we speak... thanks for looking in...
