I recently created a custom dns and installed dyndns updater. I neglected to uncheck the option to use Internet Guide and the application changed my dns resolver to dyndns custom. It blocks sites that it regards as harmful. I do not want or need this "service" and the on site "support" is sketchy at best. They seemed rather "butthurt" that I even asked them how to change it back. The support forum was just as unproductive. I reinstalled the app and unticked the box but the resolvers are the same as the first installation changed them to. I just want my old setup back so when I click on a link the site comes up unblocked. Any help?

Hello Digitalocksmith ! I did what you advised and during removal of dns updater via control panel I got a dialog box that said "removal complete, in order to prevent loss of connection dns servers were not changed. You must change your dns servers manually to discontinue internet guide". I do not know how to do this.

All apps are removed. Registry is edited. Computer and all peripherals have been rebooted but DNS Resolver is still the same. I need to change it to whatever it was prior to the installation of the application, "DNS updater" which I downloaded from DYNDNS.com. No support from the site. I assume it is a relatively straight forward procedure involving some internet setting. I just can't find instructions.

If after getting rid of the program the service is still there.

Just set it to disable and forget about it. It would be on the list but it would not be functional anymore.

I use DynDNS I do not use the service based updater but rather the updtae program, it does not cause any problem.

Many Routers have configuration to send the IP to the service and then No Windows Service, or Updater program is needed at all.

Thank you so much Digitalocksmith and cat5e for your help! Because I was not very scientific and tried everything at once, Well, I wish I could say what worked. I am sure it had to do with removing the prog and then using CCleaner to clean up then of course the reboot.
Turning off the service and ipconfig /flushdns were the last things I did before the reboot.
