Dystopia

Any of you guys/girls/aliens from outer space (or inner space) play Dystopia? It is an excellent Multiplayer Mod for HL2 and if you have Steam, its worth the download. Its only the Beta version at the moment and its a bit 'unstable' at times, but its bloody brilliant!

It takes some getting used to though, with the two different worlds, cyberspace and the real world, all the different load outs e.t.c. C.S players arent known for good team play and it can be a bit frustrating when they go out for max frags and not objectives, but hopefully that will change.

As the game is a bit confusing at first, this gives a good general guide to what the CyberPunks have to do (with the Corps trying to stop them!).

It looks pretty good.

There are a lot of Half Life 2 Mods available.

My only criticism of them is that most are buggy and crash a lot, especially Garry's Mod Eight.

 

To be honest most HL2 mods are just fancy artwork with no real thought about the gameplay or the layout e.t.c

Dystopia has a different feel though - they have spent a lot of time on it. Most Mods would have realeased this as the full version - the fact they are calling it a Beta shows they want to get it perfect.

If you fancy a bit of a fright try the haunted house mappack for HL2 (download the files into your map directory in HL2 - run HL2 with console, load a HL2 game and enable console, then type map SPACE haunted and the first level should appear, select and your away (sorry if Im teaching Grandma's to suck eggs)).

Turn the lights off and play on hard VERY scary!!
