Has anyone considered or does anyone already own an e-cigarette?
We just bought a two pack and I cannot believe how much I'm loving, and enjoying it.

What prompted this was the fact the apartment we are moving into is no smoking - We're both hardened smokers!! (we didn't know this until tenancy agreement was in our hands)
We had no choice about not smoking in the property, but I seriously believe I'm not going to be bothered about not smoking ANYWHERE now I've got my little pocket vape! :) It's amazing! (Cotton candy flavoured for me)

Go easy on that thing, monitor you dosage or you can end up smoking more when you start again.:-D

I liked the mint one best.:)

I have friends who swear by them, and I have friends who hate them. I have noticed the friends who swear by them use them at least 4x as much as they would have smoked, though, since they don't have to go outside to do it.

I don't smoke so I can't give you an opinion on them but I always thought it was a rather interesting concept.

I have read they can be more harmful than cigarettes though. Just go easy on them :p

I had no idea what these were other than I've seen the guy in the mall kiosk selling them and puffing away. I always wondered what they did and why you could smoke them inside. So it comes out in vapor.

Well, short of quitting, it sounds much better to me than an actual cigarette. I have no idea on the health risks or anything. I did see that they are banned indoors now in New York City, though.

Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

I'm still trying to figure out how to hack into an e-cigarette. :-D

The trouble with them is the amount of nicotine in the liquid isn't regulated (yet, there is already legislation in the works). So for some people it actually is worse in that respect, although it doesn't involve inhaling smoke so it's better that way. I'm leery of them for regular use (my sister gets one every time she flies, where I buy nicotine gum...neither are as "good" as a cigarette for either of us, but they work in a pinch). They haven't been around long enough for the long-term effects to be known yet, whereas I know exactly what I'm in for by smoking.

I have a friend that swears by them. He was a heavy smoker in his 60's (I think), and HAD to quit smoking. I don't recall the details of his health problem, but he is doing much better now, and still gets his nicotine buzz via the e-sig.

Yeah, that is what we need:
MMM, tasty gubment approved foods. :-D

I surely wasn't saying the pending legislation is infallible, only that currently there can be anywhere from zero to way too much nicotine in the e-cigarette liquid. ;)

On the radio here, they say they can regulate the amount of nicotine in the cig? I have no experience with that. Just don't see that as the gubment's roll, especially with past history.

Without getting too HBT, in the past, they raised taxes on smokes to pay for kids health care. And then they want smokers to quit. WTF, smoke for the children! :-D

I'm going nowhere near HBT. All I'm saying is that right now you have no way of knowing how much nicotine (or anything else) you're getting in the liquid. That scares me a little. ;)

Not arguing with you, but is there a nicotine level rated in regular cigs? Also, when I smoked, it depended on how you much you pulled on the cig and how often for nicotine levels...

You can hot box an ultra light or kick back and barely puff on a full flavor unfiltered cig.

There are different levels, but the rules recently changed (nothing is allowed to be called "light" or "ultra light" any more) so I'm not sure what the parameters are any more.

And yeah, you can get around it if you want to. Pull the filter off. Block the holes that are supposed to make you inhale air along with the smoke. Pull harder and hold it in longer.

After a whole day of using it, I woke up without craving a smoke OR a go on the e-cig. This is just crazy, what's happening to me? :-D (I've smoked for 20 years solid) I find the less I smoke real tobacco, the more calm and tranquil I am feeling.

These things come in Very high nictone dose, high, and then two more lesser levels. I'm using the HIGH at the moment and it seems to suit me.

You liked the mint did ya Rikky? :-D I don't like much stuff that's minty unless it's mixed with chocolate... I did try the mint choc e-liquid but wasn't impressed. Hell, the ladies in the store ensured we sampled ALL of those flavours.... !!

My favourite so far is the cotton candy. I've made a capsule of that last over a day, when it's finished I'm gonna load my bowl with a cappucino flavour. Ha ha LOL

I'm just very impressed, this whole thing has blown me away. I'm not smoking nearly as much on my e cig as I did real cigs. We're proper chain smoking kinda people.

We in the US can get the solution in a dosage of 24/18/12/6 and 0 nicotine. I'm down to a 6 and the wife is on 0. My lungs are a lot clearer now. :major

Have them and see 2 problems.

Smokers pick them up and don;t put them down. Still has nicotine.
Government will get involved and eventually it will turn out they are as bad as cigarettes, just a different poison. Wait for it...

Has anyone invented e-gin yet? Surely a market to get us alcohol swiggers off the bottle?
I gave up smoking 44 years ago with no trouble but I do like a drink, or two.

I thought nicotine was as safe as caffeine and that it was all the other things in tobacco that cause cancer...such as arsenic and tar.

The solutions are often referred to as e-liquid or e-juice. Typically, they contain hundreds of flavors. For those desiring nicotine without smoke, the solution contains nicotine dissolved in propylene glycol and/or vegetable glycerin - both common food additives. Experts say propylene glycol has had no serious known side effects since the 1950s when it was included in nebulizers and asthma inhalers. In fact, the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), USA, includes this ingredient as one of its GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) substances.

Problem is propylene glycol is taken in small doses and we don't know what happens when you inhale it in large amounts. I am guessing that like anything else, too much of almost anything is bad.

    Yummy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propylene_glycol

I'm the same Laura, heard of them but never known if they are a good or bad replacement to tobacco.

I think everyone has some great points of view on these things, it's nice to hear other's takes on them! :major

All I know, is we were pretty much forced into using them as replacements for tobacco, as it's absolutely no smoking in our new place we just took on. So it's this or possible eviction.

This morning I awoke and had to go over the road for a great big dirty hand rolled cigarrette. .......... :-D Had about three in a row actually, I confess.

:-D :-D Potential for a new MG signature? bwahahah
